Learning Strategies

The suggested approach for learning the material in each subject area is
  1. Begin by reading the associated chapter in your textbook.  Do this well before the subject is discussed in class.
  2. Jot down any questions you have, and ask them in class.
  3. Work as many homework problems as you can.
  4. Re-read the Reading Assignment, and continue work on homework.  If you continue to have difficulties, stop by for an office visit.
  5. Repeat step 4 until you are comfortable with the material, and have completed all homework problems.
Important:  do NOT spend enormous amounts of time spinning your wheels on WebHW problems.  Every single homework problem can be worked in just a few minutes if you know what you are doing.  Stop by for an office visit if you are stuck, but be sure to bring your homework solutions manual with you - I can usually spot a mistake very quickly by looking at your work.   If you just can't get started (or if you don't have your work with you), you are welcome to stop by for a nudge in the right direction.
